New to this forum. Just bought a S2 recently. Pricing the parts to do the water pump and belts. Looking to see if anyone has any recomendations on parts suppliers or what manufacturer of parts to go for.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new car. The S2 is a great machine.

For many parts, your local Porsche Centre will be your first port of call, they are often cheaper than the online sellers.
for online, I often use Max at Frazerpart, very helpfull and reasonable prices.

Belts I would go for Gates / Dayco - you will find these much cheaper through carparts4less or other sellers on the internet.

https://www.carparts4less.co.uk/timing-belt

Currently only have the Continental timing belt at £29.99 and the Dayco balance shaft belt at £23.99 (don't forget the 12% off with WINTER12)

Water pump - I purchased a good quality german made Geba pump from Design911 for a significant saving other anywhere else I could find -

£152 currently for the S2 Geba pump - https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt878_882_-cma81-cmo123/Porsche/944-1982-91/Water---Coolant-Pumps/

If you want the rollers and tensioners then these chaps are the cheapest for the genuine INA ones and I recently purchased mine from them -

Could also wait for a sale in Euro Car parts, if you sign up they will email you offers.

They are still a rip off even in a "sale".

Use their sister site carparts4less - they have a sale currently 12% off with WINTER12

Same company but parts are sometimes 50% cheaper than eurocarparts....

Sometimes the pre-sale prices are inflated. But when they have a big sale I usually compare against the sister carparts4less, and they are quite often cheapest option. Delivery is faster than via carparts4less too, or there is option to click and collect.

I spend a fortune with ECP/carparts4less on the family cars (and sometimes 928 bits/fluids). They’re a fine outfit.

I looked at a few things on Euro and the prices were really expensive but ill keep my eye on there sales for in future, i will also keep car parts4less in mind too.

I ended up speaking to Max at Frazer Part and got a good deal from him.

Been a few years since ive had a 944 (wrote my last one off a while back) so its good to see who everyone else has been using for parts. I see Heritage have started selling Porsche Parts too.

Cheers for the recomendations.

Their water pump is reasonably priced but unbranded. Has anyone used these water pumps?

I'd go with the ones from Design 911 if I were you - they have 3 different brands to choose from for the S2 from £120 - £189 (ex VAT).

Best price I could find for a decent brand name pump after searching online for hours on end.

https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt878_882_-cma81-cmo123-ct307/Porsche/944-1982-91/944S2-3-0L-1989-91/Water---Coolant-Pumps/

I picked up the GEBA one for my 944 Turbo earlier this year and couldn't fault the quality and its made in Germany.

Thanks, will look into these Wh1t3Kn1ght

I once read a fellow forum member(not sure which forum) fitted a Circoli Water Pump on a 968 which was still going strong after 10000 miles. It was well under a £100 from Eurocarparts.

Unfortunately can't find it!

That was me

And 4 years later I’m doing the belts again and the pump is 100% fine and will not be replaced this time same with all the rollers and tensioners, it might be I’m just lucky with this one

It cost me £68.50 when I bought it

I thought it was you but wasn't sure :) Hope you enjoy many more years of service from it!

In the meantime, I'm still on the hunt...presently ECP have one discounted to £112 but doesn't say which brand. Just asked & waiting for reply..

It might have gone up in price over 4 years too.

It worth giving Max at Frazerpart a call anyway. I was really happy with what I got from him.

Belts are all done now and a good 500miles added to the car since. Love driving this car.
