When I got the 924, the HRW terminal on the offside of the hatch was hanging off. I tried cleaning and supergluing it on but it fell off! Further inspection of the element shows its all flaking off and looking pretty manky. Is it possible to clean it all off and buy a replacement element or am I just better off checking my windscreen cover will replace the hatch and put a brick through it? (Metaphorically speaking of course!!!!). "Pre-enjoyed" replacement hatches seem quite expensive. Any advice would be much appreciated as I'd like to sort it and check it while we still have the damp :toothy2: /cold :bigsmurf: weather and also it's a pain not being able to clear the window! Thanks in advance for any help......! Gary

 Don't do that! Thats why our insurance keeps going up! If you do you will probably just write off your pride & joy as the rear screens around 4K. I got one on ebay for £15. Resealed it & fitted it with new pins & the heater works perfectly. Looks loads better. Just got to refit my spoiler.
Only thing to watch is the size of the hole for the rear wiper. (Or get a wiper to go with it.) I have a 924 screen on my '44. Many have fitted the '44 screens on the 924 for the spoiler.
Lots around for sensible money & they do fit in the back wrapped in a blanket with the spare wheel removed & the drivers seat a bit forward.

i've posted this one before, a mate of mine with a 924 returned to his car to find a brick thrown through the rear screen, on getting his 2 quotes the insurance company wanted to write the car off, he managed to get a complete hatch of the bay for not much more than his excess and retracted his claim, therefore unwriting his car off

Id say that 944 hatches were virtually worthless now: they were only worth £125-£150 i5 years ago! Try Paul at PHSportscars: Id be surprised if he asked for more than your windscreen excess...

Thanks for that! Didn't think about the "write-off" thing! As my car's got a rear spoiler does that mean it's a 944 hatch anyway? Haven't had the car many months and have always had British classics before e.g Coopers, Range Rovers, Jags etc so this is all new ground for me! Am learning a lot on here though!
