Post subject:  Searching for Jason Gibson

Greetings from the Colonies. I have a two liter (naturally aspirated) 924 that I've campaigned at Bonneville and elsewhere in land speed racing for three seasons. The car presently holds the standing start one mile (paved surface) record at 138.0 and the one mile average (after two miles) salt record at 149.825 MPH.
While I hope to squeeze another two or so miles per hour out of it during the 2019 season pretty much as configured, my plan for 2020 is to move to a 3 liter engine class. To that end I've targeted the 968 motor as a possible option and understand that one Jason Gibson who lurks hereabouts has a 924 with that power plant installed.
Hopefully he will see this and we can correspond on the difficulties of that transplant so that I can either opt for something more sensible, or proceed.
Rick
P.S. I'll be appreciative of any others who can offer input as well! :)

Sorry for the delay, i've spent the last couple of days in bed ill.

I had two 924S's one fairly std and one with the 968 engine.

I really can't comment on putting a 3l into a 2L car as it's quite different to the 2.5 which is basically a narrow 944.

The money I spent was daft and I wouldn't do it again. I upgraded brakes and suspension first. But sounds like you may already have done that bit.

Most of the mechanical work was carried out by JMG Porsche, Jon would be able to advise you on the details, including ECU swapping

Rebuild the engine first :)

Jason:
Thanks for the reply - even though it wasn't exactly what I'd hoped to hear :)
Rick
P.S. If you think that expenditure was daft, try wringing 220 HP out of a NA 2L
