my car is a red 1988 944 S with paint code LM3A which I believe is India Red.
Just finished doing the bottom of both front wings and the sills.
The bottom 100mm of both front wings at the back ( where it catches all the water from the wheels ) was totally rusty and held together with filler and underseal.
Making the repair panels and putting them in is relatively easy with the wings off .
The sills were sound and only needed stripping and priming.
To repaint them I used Audi Brilliant Red as it is a very close match to the India Red. When it ages a little,I think it will be a virtual match.
I believe getting hold of the original Porsche colour in a small quantity is close to impossible ,if anyone out there knows different please post up the supplier.
Hope this helps out anyone else with the India Red colour and doing a sill /wing bottom refurb.

India Red is the same colour as Guards Red.
And paint supplier will make you up a can.
Either in 2k or a base coat that would require a clear coat on top

If you take the petrol flap off and take it to a proper paint supplier they will colour match fill large aerosols for you

Have to look for your local one, I use a place in Harlow Essex, large can of Cobalt Blue matched and a large can of 2k clear coat, was £21

Well worth it

I dont know how widespread the chain is but Economy Autopaint will make up cans from codes or colour match. V good quality stuff and fast drying times.

thank you, that's really useful and I will get onto that as I need to strip and respray the front apron and any mismatch in colour will really notice there.

Just to add further, red is possibly the hardest colour to match,

It will look great in the daylight, but under orange streetlights ..............

Unless recently painted the chances of matching Red is close to nil. It fades badly & unevenly. You'll end up painting half the car to get a fade out & even then won't be great. Modern reds (& other colours) are clear over base & will fade much less.
