Post subject:  Gates belts
Has anyone seen these in the UK? I'm after 2 specifically;
KO50330 5PK841 which as about 858mm long and also
KO50335 (sorry don't have the 5PK code) at 863mm

or an equivalent.
My car runs without the AC compressor so the alternator belt has no adjustment. Its been like this for 10 yrs or so but replacements are proving illusive now it seems.

What car is this? All none AC 944's have an adjustable alternator belt tensioner. They can get corroded and break as they are in an exposed position so it's possible yours was removed and not replaced. And to date I've not had an issue locating correct replacement accessory belts.

90 turbo so came with AC.
The adjustor is on the AC compressor which is no longer on the car. Currently the alternator is in its original postion so has no adjustment. Belt goes from alternator to crank so this is a non standard belt and fitting is trial and error as its not written down anywhere. Rennlist threads have shown these two belts to fit.
Yes I can fit an AC delete kit or a non ac alternator bracket and I may do this but as its always worked just fine in its current set up if there's no need to spend more money I'll try not to.

Avoid the usual extorting breakers and a non A/C bracket isn't much. A nice guy on here sent me one for the cost of the postage :) .

It's an option but I'd need a new adjuster too. As I said I'm hoping it can be made to work as it has for the last few years.

Surely all you need to get hold of is one of these adjusters?

It wouldn't be hard to make one with a couple of rose joints and some threaded bar

Then get the shorter non AC belt and your good.

He needs to relocate the alternator before he can do that. Which I would suggested is the best thing to do otherwise there is no way of tensioning the alternator belt.

Try Wooliesworkshop.co.uk - Paul will probably have the bracket and tension arm, and will be able to supply a correct new belt. I'd be surprised if it cost you more than £50 all-in and you can get the job done properly. Check the website out but its probably best to give him a call and explain what you need.

Sorted for now and a new belt fitted. I'll post which one in case anyone else has the same issue. I'll keep an eye out for an alternator mount and adjustor I think or maybe reinstate the AC.
