i was wondering if anyone had a spare bearing carrier (total of 4) out of a torque tube to sell. I am in the middle of replacing the bearings, as my trusty torque tube has done over 330,000 miles. through my own stupidity, on removal, I managed to distort one of them. after trying to true it on a press , to no avail, I need a replacement. torque tubes are readily available , but I don't really want to go through the laborious process of removing drive shaft and bearings ever again, on a replacement, and the fact ive got nowhere to put another tube , ive already got 3 engines and 3 gearboxes under the car. I'm currently doing an engine mod, stroker, new pistons etc, amongst other things. thanks in advance.

PM sent. just been looking at your engine setup. wow! that's a lovely looking engine. whats happening with it and your car? I started my latest mod in December with intention to finish in june. that's not going to happen. |

Thanks Ian , got your pm will post it out Tuesday . Your engine project sounds interesting , care to share ? I have been waiting for a billet fuel rail from Lindsey Racing as mine had pin hole leak when pressurised . Unfotunatley they have been out of stock for 4 weeks but finally turned up Friday so can now crack on . |

thanks a lot simon. unfortunately I'm not the engineering brains, my brother is. and he has talked me into finally sorting the engine.( on a tight budget) the car has always been fairly underpowered for at least the last 28 years of me owning it. I put a S2 air intake manifold on it a few years ago. its a stroker project, hopefully producing 2.8L ish. its from a 16v S engine so a 2.5 block. I'm putting a S2 crank in it after knife edging and balancing with flywheel/clutch pulley etc. and hopefully it'll run ok without stalling. I'm having the cylinders bored to a possible 102mm and obviously done with treating the alusil block accordingly. I know sleeving is another option. im in the process of having my brother order the pistons from the US or UK, as he understands all dimensions required in the build , but its already taken him over 2 months, and he still hasnt got round to it. they are going to have to be one offs as there are no 944 S pistons overesize available. ive got some turbo forged rods too. obviously the torque tube bearings and ive got hold of a lot lower mileage gearbox, as mine was very worn . the usuall porting of the 16V head and cleaning up the manifold, and possible ceramic coat . im slightly envious to say the least of your engine mods, and the fact your car parts are so clean. you obviously have an engineering brain, and enjoy fiddling with the 944. great work. will you have time to drive it? |
