Okay, so this is probably a ridiculous question from what I've already read about 944s, but here goes anyway. I bought my 1983 non sunroof 944 off ebay, VERY cheap; and when I got in it to drive home, I nnoticed a swimming pool in the passenger front and rear footwell. Also, the boot carpet was soaking on both sides. I found a hole underneath the battery, which I repaired and sealed properly, which has managed to solve the worst of the leak, but it's still coming in somewhere when it rains really heavily. Should there be a plastic drip tray in the space between the bottom of the windscreen and the firewall in the engine? Or is there some other common place that would be allowing the water to get in? Do the windscreen trips leak? and if so, how do you get them off? And where is the most likely place for the water to be finding its way into the boot? |

Check the drain channels are not blocked in both the engine bay and on the sunroof. |

its a non sunroof car so the boot seal probably has flattened causing the boot leak, not sure about the indoor paddling pool tho' |

Thanks folks - I've already cleaned the engine gutters out (and yes they were blocked) but i can't find the sunroof drains (!!). I guess a new boot seal is on the cards pretty soon then... Thanks again! John |

My 924S used to leak in from under the bonnet where the heater fan fits to the bulkhead just below the windscreen wiper mounts as the early model does not have a cover over the fan housing (like a mesh cover) it used to leak from where it mounts to the bodywork as the rubber gasket had perished. I removed it sealed it with some silicone and it was ok the mounting bolts are right up inside the car under the dash behind the heater unit sort of accessed by lying on your back and putting your arms up behind the glovebox and pedalbox on either side. Helps if you have long arms or the seats out. |

In the past I have seen two other cause for the flooding of the foot wells! One reason could be the rear hatch seal is bad,after sitting closed over time it will flatten out and leak around the hinges at the top and run down the sides into the floor pan.I have also seen the glass at the top of the hatch begin to seperate and cause water to run in there also.
