I too need one unfortunately. Seen that on Rosepassion & trying to get a better price. Will be visiting NEC Classic Car Show this weekend; would that be a good place to source one? Other than that, would like to find out the price from OPC in the UK? |

Other than that, would like to find out the price from OPC in the UK? The only place to get a genuine sill is from Porsche. Rose Passion and every body else has to buy them from Porsche and then add a profit margin. It is one of those things that you can (nearly) always get cheaper yourself by going direct to your local OPC. Give them a call and ask "how much". Don't forget to ask for a discount (regardless of what they initially say)... they do have some wriggle room on their prices. |

Is it best to get an original Porsche sill, or are there other after market brands that are as good at a better price? |

Hi Karozza I Paid £167.46 from OPC in 2012, I checked the price a couple of years ago and IIRC it was £170 plus VAT. It also depends what the inner structure is like, the separator (part of the inner sill) was £95.83 and the corner plate (inside of the front rear arch) was £115.44. The only bit I used pattern was the outer arch. The best thing about OE is the parts go together like a big welding jigsaw ! this gives you the correct profile of the arch. They also have all the drain holes in place and the triangle indent to mark the jacking point. When you see how much pattern repair panels are on ebay, OPC are actually quite reasonable. Brian |

they are two bits you might well need Separator is part of the inner sill, and the end plate goes in the end of the sill inside the rear wheel arch and is more than likely rotten as well |

I got mine from www.classiccarpartsandpanels.co.uk It's almost identical only it doesn't come with the section that meets up with the inside of the car. A lot of body shops will cut that piece off anyway to reduce costs. |

I've just had a look at it on their web site & it just shows to be the side plate & not a complete sill from top to bottom; nothing like the original part!? |

It doesn't include the part of the sill that is under the door when the door is closed. Other than that it looks identical. If you have no rust under the door but you do on the outer sill then it is perfect and you cannot tell the difference with the original. |

There are two things which concern me with replacement panels. One is the fit and the other, perhaps even more important, is the quality of the metal. The cost of the panel itself is only a small part of the total cost of the job. The original panel lasted 20-odd years and I'd hope for much the same from a replacement. I certainly don't want to be doing the job again in 5 years time because someone got their sheet steel from the same place Lancia did in the 1970s... |

I was assured by classic car parts and panels that it is the same quality of metal that Porsche use. I hope that is the case and I believe it does say the type on their website so would be interested to know if it's true. |
