Best place for front drilled discs for my 944s2? They seem a little hard to source unless going for the black diamond .any suggestions would be welcome .I may just go stock as euro car parts does a pagid vented disc and pad combo for just over £100 . But since they need replacing thought I'd have a look into the drilled / grooved options ,thanks |

The Pagid deal looks good. I tried some drilled ones but they rusted up quicky and the holes filled in no time with rust and dust. Now using M030 fronts (actually 928 discs and 993 calipers.) |

Thanks endoman .more or less what I'd read .I think I'll stick with stock .like you said I think it's a decent price for pagid discs and pads |

I have drilled discs on my '86' 951 which will be the same as on an S2, no problems at all and they have been there a long time now, well over 10 years...alas I can't remember the make though, they weren't the most expensive that's for sure... Pete |

Here's some Zimmerman fronts: https://www.ebay.de/itm/2x-ZIMMERMANN-SPORT-BREMSSCHEIBEN-PORSCHE-911-944-964-HINTEN/252438764592?epid=640253727&hash=item3ac685dc30:g:oaMAAOSwInxXNME5 I Just use Halfords high temp aerosols which last reasonable well especially with 3 coats and an 80 degree bake in my oven R |

The drilled ones that rusted badly on mine were Sebro. Zimmermann are highly rated. Also one of my rear Sebros warped after a track day at Oulton but that was probably due to the parking brake shoes coming adrift. Currently running Pagids solid with 968 air deflectors on the front. Drilled discs have been known to propagate cracks but no problems with the 993 which has drlled Porsche discs, turbo fronts and RS rears with Big Red calipers. When I raced the MGA Twin -Cam I drilled my own discs, solid, non vented. One of the original all wheel disc brake systems as fitted to the D-type Jag made by Dunlop. I fabricated a twin master system with adjustable balance bar and could easily outbrake all my competitors who were running a Lockheed disc/drum setup. I've always been a bit OCD about brakes. I once picked up a pad backing on the trailer off the motorway, often wonder what happened to that guy. It's one thing I never compromise on. We used to have a Morris traveller with a 1275 MG Midget engine but the drum brakes all round could not cope, neither could the gearbox. |

I had black diamond drilled and grooved discs on my 3.0i Capri, never had any issues with rusting although it was used daily. |

I'd go with the plain discs personally. If you want more stopping power go with better pads. These could be Textars or if you fancy splashing the cash something like Pagid RS29s. After things things start to get expensive. |

944-Scott wrote: Zimmermans do have a history of cracking as well ![]() I think if any brand and make get too hot they are prone to cracking because they cannot expand. I was quite amazed how much they can and do grow in diameter and also thickness. Hence why I've gone to the route of slotting the New Rotors so they can grow in diameter and also fitting designed shoulder bolts and double spring washers which allow the disc thickness to expand whilst being held with a pretension (So they don't rattle like some Floating discs assemblies) ![]() ![]() ![]() This is only possible on the Early 944 & 924S as the Disc bolts to the hub and not like the later cars which are a one piece design that slides over the studs.....
