Hello fellow Porsche owners
Todays problem!
My car is used fairly regularly normally without issue but from time to time it will not start. The car turns over fine but will not fire up but put a set of jump leads no and away she goes. I have changed the battery to a new one but the problem still remains has anyone else come across a similar fault
forever hopeful Stuart :D

A job I have planned for this weekend. I have already replaced my engine to firewall strap but lately I noticed one of my hid's at stop working due to poor earth and now my afr gauge (which has a diagnostic blink code) is reading low voltage.

I had a Ford Capri that did that. Go in the garage to fill up then the car wouldn't start . It was a loose braided earth strap to the body.

I had similar intermittent starting issues, and have finally traced it (I think!) to a poor connector plug on the crank sensor. . . .

Just because a battery actually turns over does not mean it is in good health. Modern batteries have powerful cranking power & could be enough to crank but then have no juice left for Ecu, ignition spark etc due to weak voltage.

Although you have just replaced the battery, as you explain when applying the jump leads, does it start straight away even with the new battery? If yes, this suggest a weak battery.

Get a volt meter on the battery during cranking & it should stay above 12 Volts.

Thank god for auto electricians! :D

The fault was traced to a bad earth ( as suggested ) to the earth lead to the battery (battery located in the boot ). A new lead was manufactured and the car is as good as new well as good as a 31 year old car can be. But the old lead looked good as new to me well it looked ok with no visible faults what did I know. Anyway all sorted fingers crossed :bounce: :bounce:
