Good afternoon all 944 owners. I need 2 front upper strut mounts for my 1989 944 2.7 LHD Auto. The price new is very steep. Does anyone have any going spare?? Part number is 951.343.018.04 If anyone has other suggestions, I would be very interested to hear suggestions you may have. Many thanks Damien Dames944 |

I've just made a solution for the early 944 & 924S, if this situation is as bad as this I'm sure I could modify the design and make something for the later cars. The strut angle and motion ratio is different with the longer or wider wishbones, hence I believe the Rubber puck bearing was put on top of the plate as opposed to below like the original, but the bearing angle must be different too ? Anyone know? I guess getting hold of one and measuring is the best thing, but I would estimate if I could get some made they could be £500 a pair but would people pay this? R |

as far as i know they are one piece and the rubber is vulcanised in-place, the bearing is at an extra 4 degrees to accommodate the longer wishbones the bearing is unusual too, in having i larger inner race track than the outer, I believe they are special FAG bearings that are no longer made, the bearing is a staked fit in the inner part and requires pressing out and a new one would require a sleeve machined for the bearing and then the bearing re-staking. |

I could do with getting hold of one to see it in the flesh, then look if it's possible to make something up. Ideally a Rubber housing that takes a common sized available bearing then a 2 piece aluminium housing to hold it. Similar to what I've just has made for the early type. ![]() R |
