Not that values hold much interest to me as both my cars are so heavily modified to be worthless , but while talking to Ash at Porsche Portsmouth , he mentioned that a 944 SE sold at the Bonhams auction during Goodwood Revival fo £40,000 . That's strong money for an S2 with a few extras as well as having 85,000 miles on the clock.

IIRC it sold for over £42k, there are a few turbo's out there right now at the mid £30k mark....values are certainly still increasing...I wouldn't say your cars are worthless due to mods, well not unless you have modified the exterior look... engine/handling mods can go either way regards to value, can put it up just as easily as putting it down, just depends on what the buyer wants...if he wants an original garage queen he won't like mods, if he wants to drive the car as an enthusiast of the Marque he's very likely to appreciate well-fitted mods....I best add...it could, of course, be a 'she' buyer....:)

Hi Pete , sorry I should have explained that I meant worthless to the collector /investor who pays top money for original cars . I have no intention of ever selling my cars and have had as much enjoyment building them as driving them . Priceless to me .

The last line is the bit that counts

Or a way to unload the last cars Porsche GB were lumbered with because the 968 was coming...

I cant believe that anyone would pay that money for for what is essentially a run-out dealer special edition!

I have an even later 'K' registered 944 S2 with only 53k miles on the clock which looks to be in just as good (if not better) nick than that SE, so it's got me wondering what mine might actually be worth.... :-)

PS I just noticed this evening that another SE has just popped up on ebay for £55k and that's done 168k miles!

I can only assume that collectors that want everything Porsche are willing to pay more for these due to rarity. But to the average Joe who just wants to drive the car they are worth only a bit more than a regular S2.

I'd check your VIN number. If the 11th character is an S rather than an N it was built by Porsche at Zuffenhausen rather than Audi at Neckarsulm. There were only 130 RoW S2s built at Zuffenhausen so I expect they should be worth a bit more. In reality it only makes them a bit closer to a 968 but I'm not sure car values have much to do with reality.

:) There's rumours that the 'N' 944 was better built as the factory put 1000's of them together.

I have just bought a lovely s2 (well it will be once I've done all the bits it needs), which was registered October 1992.
I'd guess this might make it one of the very last??
anyone got any views on this as I'm new to the forum and value any info you guys could share.
thanks
