Thanks to the forum, it seems likely that a date with some vinegar is on the horizon for the resistor pack, the fan having packed up on the way back from Deutche Fest last weekend! Does it matter on the type of vinegar used- should it be distilled white vinegar or will good old malt vinegar work just as well? |

Or Pepsi or lemon juice or anything with acetic acid in it |

Thanks for the reply. Gone for distilled vinegar. Am pickling the resistors as I type but not convinced this is the issue as there was very little corrosion evident when I finally got it out and apart. The coating between a couple of the coils is cracked- will this have any effect on the operation? |

I had exactly the same problem, distilled vinegar did the trick. This was a photo having done it http://porsche911owner.blogspot.co.uk/2 ... aning.html |

I did mine in white vinegar and it doesn't have any of the ceramic paste on it any more - it works a perfectly. Before treatment my fan only worked on max speed. |
