Just realised the latest hole in the floor pan is right underneath the ECU .
Had the plywood cover off and it looks as if the ECU and the cover plate its screwed onto come out quite easily,just a few screws.
The wiring loom looks like it is clipped onto the top of the ECU which means I can unclip the ECU, take it out, and get the loom right off the floor.
That way I will not fry the loom when I weld the floor.
Not having messed with the ECU before I just want to make sure my reasoning is sound before I start taking the ECU out.
If I have missed anything please tell me ,thanks.

Sounds about right, o/c disconnect battery first. I changed my chip a while ago.

its not the worst of jobs as long as the screws are not rusty.
