ok, so it was a nice day for a blast, off i went, car running well ... until i came to a halt and it stalled, in fact just about every time i came to a halt or engaged neutral to roll up to a halt it cut out, but it didn't just die the revs dropped gradually to zero, occaisionally it caught and would climb to 1200 rpm before settling ok at 800 ish, car restarted every time ok, has recently had DME relay, any body any ideas ? |

Sound like a choked up Idle control valve or an air leak. Unfortunately unless you trained as a gynaecologist getting the ICV off & then back on means removing the inlet manifold. But first I'd have a good poke around all the rubber pipes to check they ain't dropped off or split. |

yup - i'd say check the vacuum hoses first, not forgetting the big bugger that goes to the brake servo. definately sounds like air leak. failing that check the air flow meter or whatever version you have on these cars for security and the connector. |

Start the car and GENTLY spray some starting fluid around the vacuum hoses to see if the idle changes. If not then dive into the ICV!! |

just got back after "wasting" about £15 of shells finest, no problems with stalling and the car seemed to run really well, even had a tussle with a "V" reg MR2 along some country roads towards market bosworth |
