Hi everyone, I've come up against a b*gger of a rusted nut when doing my shocks -
Before I buy a tool, I was wondering if anyone has a nut splitter or high torque air gun i could borrow? I'm in south bucks.
Thanks :)

Which nut is it? There are several techniques I have used depending on access. Easiest is to cut a slot with a dremmel and split with a nice sharp chisel. Penetrating oil, heat cherry red, tight fitting socket and a breaker bar., occasionally extended with a length of gas pipe.. Also depends on if you need to preserve the threads on the stud or bolt. Not a great fan of nut splitters again they work best if access is good and you have cut a slot for the cutting tip.

I have a set of nut splitters a tool for every old car owners tool box

Mine split up to 24mm and don't need a slot cut to start, I also have access to hydraulic splitter that will do up to 50mm

Not having a compressor , I purchased the Clark 240v torque gun from machine mart for £60 with 450nm which has made short work on any rusted suspension bolt.

When do you need it done by? I'm in Warwick but have a rattle gun and a large breaker bar if you need a hand. It may be this weekend but next would suit me better or an evening.
