Post subject: | S2 exhaust de-cat |
Has anyone decat an s2 exhaust Bin reading alot of articles, from the racing frat, best thing seems to be remove the cat altogether and replace with 2 1/2 inch straight pipe, in stainless to improve gas flow my concern is how noisy it will be. Also seems to be a lot of debate that remving the cat wil make any difference at all the S2 has a very long cat on it supposed to be designed to rduce back pressure to min Any Ideas |

If your going to dump the cat. Do it right & bin the whole exhaust & fit a Dansk full system. Will give you approx 10 Horses & sound lovely for around 200 notes. I'd do it. ![]() |

Hello, just reading through past topics such as "power chips" and other mods to get better power from a 944S2. Can anyone advise of a supplier for a Dansk exhaust system please? - Preferably in the North West! On a 1990 car would the "cat" section need to be replaced for the MOT, if a non-cat exhaust was installed? Thanks in anticipation, ![]() Alan |

I checked with Bert a few weeks ago regarding a complete system for an S2 from Dansk and he told me Dansk do not make a complete system for the S2. They do make the section from the Cat to tail pipe but not a cat replacement section so you could buy a back section and then somebody elses cat replacement unit. I notice on Porscheshop they do a complete exhaust for the S2 looks like Sportex I think around £600 inc Vat and you would get club discount. Also Promax offer a cat replacement section for the S2 I think around £195 so add the price of a Dansk back section around £160 total price £360ish. |

Afternoon All, Something I can comment on from experience. I had an ESS sport de-cat fitted in April '07 due to failure of the original cat. The rear section and back box were retained. The car immediately 'felt' quicker - certainly more responsive, and at the 944 Dyno Day at Silverstone Oct '07, recorded 221.9 bhp ![]() Richard |

I fitted a stainless steel de-cat pipe from http://www.powermarques.co.uk soon after buying my S2 about 6 years ago. I didn't replace the rear box, but remember that it was a bit of a game to get it to fit. I noticed that it felt much better than before, but my cat was f*ck*d and rattling like a rattlesnake. ![]() |

I replaced my split cat with a piece of straight stainless 2.5" pipe a few weeks ago (I already had a Dansk stainless rear box fitted). It is slightly noisier but not uncmfortably so. Pre K reg cars do not need to have a cat and can easily pass the emissions test without one, as mine proved today ![]() I was worried beforehand though ![]() |
