On the 944 does the 2 bolts that secure the inner drop link thread into the chassis or into a nut on the inside of the chassis. one of my 2 bolts just keeps spinning and will not come out, Like Gryphon will it need rethreading with helicoil or is there a secured nut on the inside?

Bugger! How can the new bolt be secured once the old bolt has been removed as its rattling about at moment. Will need to remove with the grinder later in week. can a new anchor nut be attached from inside without cutting and welding?

Bad luck! This is what I thought had happened when mine first span...

With my limited knowledge, I think it might have to be a case of cut open the rail, tack in a new captive nut and weld it back, which (depending on your skillset) doesn't sound fun... I hope somebody comes along with a less invasive solution :)

Thanks for reply, think the carpets will be coming out soon as new sills are going to be welded in place after surgically removing from floor pan  may even cut a length out and weld both nuts while at it and rust proof at same time. This job just starting to get fruity, haven't even looked at engine yet as I don't want to disturb what lives in there

I think you're more prepared for it than me then! Keep us updated, sounds like you've got quite the little project :)

Cheers, I will get some pictures and start a bit of a diary off but may be some time as I am about to start a house renovation. :x
