Hi, handbook reads 2 litres, but Haynes says 2.6 litres. Which is correct?
Plugs out, drained and 2 litres back in, but not overflowing?

Any thoughts?
Thanks
Barry

The refill plug is also the level line, just fill until oil flows from that plug...

I'd put in 2 litres, but had to go ang et another. It took 0.4 more to fill.
Nice easy job as the plugs came out easily and cleaned up nice.
Just taken it for a little run and whilst it seems to be exactly he same, it's nice to know it's done! I've had the car ten years and only covered 7500 miles, so for all I know, I could be original 1989 / 93000 mile oil!!
Thanks for your answers.
Barry

Gearbox oil changes are often overlooked - I did mine recently.

It's ok on a four post ramp to get the level correct, but doing it DIY, back end jacked up, you have to lower the back end (ie wheels off) then re-fill the 'box on level ground to thence get the optimal level...

My S2 gulped about 2.6 until full...

The manual is wrong. If you look at older versions they don't say only two litres. Ze Germans made some un-Teutonic mistakes, but they were usually related to metric-imperial conversions.
