My babies nearly done,
I made a big ( big for me ) decision in January to bite the bullet and get my cosmetically lovely looking 44 brought back to how it should be, for anyone who remembers I got it from Scotland in November 2016 and had a few issues, mainly the rust / corrosion on the sills as well as other areas underneath, it also had a gearbox issue which made it very hard work to engage 1st and 2nd gear....
I felt like taking the case to court but after many discussions with other people in similar situations to me, I decided to bite the bullet and get this guards red beauty back to how it deserved to be !
For the past 3 and a half / 4 months it's been in the trusted hands of Mr Nash Hunter at retro restorers, it's had over 90 hours of cutting, welding, rebuilding and painting done, a full gearbox service and this week it's having cam belts and a full engine service to complete its mini restoration, and I have to admit I'm more excited now then what I was before I originally picked it up from Scotland...
Once I get it back ( hopefully this weekend or early next week ) I'm going to share loads of before and after photos and then all I really want to do is drive it !!!
Once it's back there's a few other little things I'm considering to do.
One is a promax chip ( not essential ) but want to hear people's opinion on the 2.7 upgrade ?
Something else I'm considering ( not a modification ) is, winter storage ? Unfortunately I don't own a garage, and I'm looking for a secure garage for the 4 months, Nov, Dec, Jan, & Feb...
Anyway that's a long way off yet...
Thanks for reading, photos to follow soon. Ian

I know the feeling of waiting for a car for months, my first Porsche a 928 was a few months waiting for some work to be done.
Having seen how bad your car was underneath, you'll be glad to know it'll now be safe to drive :D

Look forward to seeing it and all in time for Beaulieu too :bounce:

This is the DAB unit i was talking about, it's a german made unit and i've seen it in a couple of 964s.
Looks perfect in an 80s/90s car. No bling, just a decent unit

Hi Jason, that dab radio unit looks very neat and tidy, I will get the details of where to order it from when we meet up next, yes the wait has been hard especially when we had some nice weekends in March / April ! Nearly done though and like you said the main thing is that's it now safe... I will be training it back up to banbury once I get the nod

Trimmers eh? How was your experience thus far ? My interior is pretty good apart from one piece of torn vinyl on the drivers seat . Its only 1 panel so shouldnt be crazy money to sort

Yes mine is totally standard apart from a k&n air filter I believe, I assume yours is the 2.7 too ?
I'm considering trying a promax chip, but I'll see how it drives when I get it back

Looking forward to the pics after all your hard work! You may want to put it on a dyno before treading into a chip upgrade...
