I have a rattle from my L/H handbrake cable at the rear end over bumps. When I compare the LH to the RH cable,I find that the LH cable has slack and can pull away from its hub housing by about half an inch.
The RH side fits into its housing solid.
My question is what do I do to stop this rattle?is it an adustment from the handbrake handle end(the rear adjustment is fine)or am I missing something else?
cheers
Alan

Sounds like you may have a broke parking brake spring. You need to open it up and see what is going on inside.

these springs should be replaced with handbrake pads and can fall off easily anytime

Removed the drivers seat today and I have adjusted the cable at the handbrake lever end and it works better than it ever has in the 2.5 years that I have owned the car. :)and with no rattle from the rear.
