Hi,

The water pump on my car takes the larger 46mm pulley however doesn't have any guard piece between the belt on the pump pulley and the idler pulley that I believe should be there?

While I've done a few thousand miles like this with no issues - it's how the car was when I bought it - It feels like I should fix it.

Two nuts cost more than the part...

I think only later cars had it.

They do, and the reason I was struggling with finding it in the PET is I wasn't going late enough!

The water pump in earlier cars is generally replaced with the (I presume better) water pump design from the later cars, so my square dash has the new pump, and later, larger idler pulley, just whoever replaced the water pump failed to fit the belt guard
