Hi, I got an air filter box of ebay for the metal clips but when it arrived it had been drilled in the front 5 or 6 , £2 coin size holes with some thin mesh. is this a common modification, I will be running a K&N air filter, will this give better air flow?

The general concensus from several posts on various forums is no. The std airbox and filter are not restrictive. The only advantage of a K&N is maybe it doesn't need attention as often and the holes will allow water to direcly impinge on the filter making a paper one soggy and clogging it. Looked at it, rejected it.

I use a K & N panel filter purely because it's a lifetime filter and I hate paying for things when you can just clean the K & N. I wouldn't use a cone filter though, It's a bit 'boy racer' for my liking.
