So I went to change the rear torsion arm bushes on my 944s yesterday.
I had the whole rear suspension assembly off the car so removed the torsion mount and pressed the old bush out with my 10t hydraulic press.
I then proceeded to install the new (OEM rubber) bush with said press, and after a lot of difficulty using various types of grease and silicon spray as a lube the aluminium torsion mount sheared at the bush insert when I had roughly 6T on pressure on it.
There were no injuries thankfully, and I have a new torsion arm on order, but it does beg the question how do you press these in properly?
Now I'm no novice with a press, I've literally pressed hundreds of rubber bushes in and out of suspension arms before, and the only force i was applying was on the rubber bush itself.
So has anyone successfully pressed OEM bushes into torsion mounts? Or shall I give up and buy two piece polybushes?
