I'm sure my car ('87 951) never used to this, but maybe I have not noticed before! Whilst scraping the windscreen the other night I had left the car running with the front 'fast' demister on, whilst I was scraping away I could hear the radiator fan cutting in & out.........this struck me as odd seeing as the car was stone cold!! It wasn't running constantly, but cutting in for a few seconds, then off again....cycling. I did wonder if it was linked to the windscreen demist being on, so I turned it off....sure enough, the rad fan stopped running. Now, I have never noticed this before, but perhaps this is normal behaviour? I had a quick look at the wiring diagrams and operation description on Clarks garage, but no mention of the demister effecting cooling fan operation. Does anyone know if this is normal? |

Do you have A/C, if so fast demist will switch on the A/C & the fans for faster demisting. |

Jim...........you've got it!! I do indeed have (non-functioning) air con. Funnily enough, I did wonder if it was to do with that, wondered if perhaps I had pressed the A/C button by accident, but as it has never worked I wasn't aware that it came on automatically with quick clear. Strange that in 3 years and numerous ice scraping situations it was the first time I had ever noticed!! ![]() |
