Just a very big thank you to the very warm welcome me and the missus received earlier tonight at the Whipping Stocks. It was nice to meet everyone and shall look forward to the next meet. Great pub and tasty grub too... See you in December!

Martin (Baz) (and Jude)

It was good to see you both last night Baz and glad you enjoyed it.

John, I think your comments are a bit uncalled for, at least very unhelpful to the whole club. I have been a member for about 2 years now and agreed when I first joined there wasn't much going on. However I think Steve our RO does a good job and organises alot of club outings and events. Just in the past couple of months we've had a Karting night, been to a wheel refurbishers, had a curry night etc. We've got plans to go to Douglas Valley Breakers on Saturday, a trip around Bently Motors on the 5th Dec and a Christmas dinner on the cards too. Pretty much every club night has a speaker, last night it was a demonstration from a paintly dent removal company, last month was a track day talk from a member who races, coating and plating companies the list goes on. OK so Steve doesn't post on the forums much but I certainly have no complaints about him at all and think he puts alot of effort into the region.

Doesn't post on the forums much? He hasn't even joined the forums until today - pretty poor form for a RO.

It took me months and several requests to get him to add my name to the e-mail list - back to him ignoring e-mails - hence me not being aware of some of those things that were going on. I do remember missing a curry night - in fact it might have been the only entry I have read in All Torque. As I wasn't on his e-maillist I wasn't told about it, and seeing as it was at the place by the Black Greyhound, only one and a half miles from my house, I would have gone.

I stand by my statements as they are based on my personal experience of the actions (or lack of) of the Cheshire/Staffs region RO.

However I'm pleased to see some guys come out in support of him.

Maybe you should give it another try John. I can honestly say I enjoy being part of the Cheshire and Staffs region. I've always found everyone to be friendly and helpful.

I think I remember you turning up at the Whipping Stocks, in May or June?

Not all ROs are on the forum, in fact one of our Gruppe Directors isn't here either, each to their own I say, not everyone is a forum addict like us.
Comms with members is a nightmare, not making excuses but administering a mail list is a real headache. I think phrases like "Ignored my e mails" is probably a bit strong, especially on a public forum. Being an RO is a PITA job a lot of the time, whilst it can be rewarding some of it is deffo headache. The ability of members to not read mails or read them incorrectly is infinite!
Can I suggest you try again John & get yourself on Steves mail list, BY PHONE if necessary! Steve's number is on the regions list. And keep the sniping off a public forum please, the ROs role is difficult enough.

Here, here Jim. You can't please all the people all the time and negative feedback, when constructive is useful but can be equally demoralising.

Please give your RO's a chance - I e-mail all my members, and when I ask for feedback, invariably get two/three replies with 95% "ignoring my e-mails".

Love and Peace, love and peace

You're both right.

Jim - I should keep the sniping off the forum. So no more sniping - I should know better at my age (approaching yours). I have asked for the other thread to be removed. However I would think it a good idea for ROs to be on the forum to 'keep a finger on the pulse' so to say. I'm not a forum addict by the way, from the whole world wide web thingy, this is the only forum I am active on - and that's because I enjoy this forum. I've been on Piston Heads, but they're not as down to earth as on this forum.

Graham - yes, to read my posting as constructive negative feedback is probably the most useful way to do it. Unfortunately I don't currently receive the All Torque so won't see if it has had any effect.

I will renew soon, once I have negotiated my signing on fee... what do you mean I have to pay you!

My 2 penneth.

Pay your subs, join in and be part of the solution. If it's not working for you then influence it from within rather than throwing bricks. If it still doesn't work for you then walk away, chalk it up and move on.

nice to see you again Martin especially the distance you travelled to get here.

its a good venue and sometimes its also entertaining lol

i wish to add to one of the subjects of lastnight. the trip out to Dentec.... would this be an "all meet there" thing?
when i organised gto meets up here we all met at one location and convoyed to the final destination then convoyed back and parted ways from the start point. i wonder if this would be a better idea than just simply meeting up at their unit in dribs and drabs. its a porsche meet so why not show numbers on the road to show onlookers how porsche owners have fun?
