My 2.7 8v is currently in hibernation I'm looking for replacement rear shocks as the left rear seems a bit floaty at times . Whould anyone be able to advise where to source? |

Just be careful if you buy from ECP. I bought some Sachs ones from them and when I came to fit they aren't the correct ones. Mine have different size eyes at each end with larger at the bottom, the ones they supplied were the same size both ends. If you can get the right ones they're a good price on the 30% discount code Alternatively Fraserpart have some on their website and they should know more what they're talking about than ECP. |

Fraser parts have been out of stock of the later ones for a while now, there is doubt whether the Sachs/Boge will be restocked, I ordered a pair of KYB to see me through a year or two until funds allow something better |

If one side is a bit floaty, check out the anti roll bar bushes, made a massive difference to the wayward arse end on my 968 |

That was more my question . I was going to shop around . I find i can get good discounts on parts this time of year. I can locate the porsche part number but can't seem to get a hold of the sachs part number. A lot of shocks seem to be stated that they will fit pre 85.5 and post 85.5 cars as well when apparently they shouldn't? |

Cheers for that . Its a 1988 2.7 8v Im also considering Bilstein B6 all round . I know that requires fabrication but not sure how much? |

For B6 The rears are plug and play The fronts require the struts to be cut and a threaded collar welded on, there are a few on here that do it, one that springs to mind is NicksonMotorsports they will do the collars for you The consensus seems to say that although B6 are more work they are better than both Koni and SPAX |

You can see the part numbers for rear SACHS on this thread... viewtopic.php?f=36&t=21077 My car is an '87 and therefore had the shocks with the larger lower bolt hole. |

Checked PET this morning it says use 2 x 951 333 032 07, which are listed for the S2 so the B6 of that would be 24-020527 and the fronts 34-000403 Amazon have complete kits for £482.00 INC |

You're into scope creep; you started off wanting to change the rear shocks as you think the car is a little 'floaty' (which may be just an ARB bush) and are now looking at changing all the shock absorbers! Bounce the rear corners to see how they react. That'll tell you whether it's shocks or not. If in doubt, take the old ones off (it's only two bolts) and see how stiff they are - they should be very stiff indeed. If they are OK then look at the ARB bushes. If you are into the realm of complete suspension replacement then I'd say the Bilsteins are possibly the best option available at the moment, pretty much bar none. The work is well worthwhile and if you can get a set for less than £500 all in then it's a reasonable price. Oli. |
