A little while a go my car's headlights went a little crazy, varying from opening and closing constantly to opening then dipping slightly then going back to normal. The issue went away after a while but today they stayed open after i turned them off. I expect they will have closed some time after i left the car. This sounds like it could be a dodgy relay to me, where are the headlight motor relays located. I think theres at least one under the cover on the headlight motor. Tom |

Yup the main relay is under the rubber condom thing on the motor & tends to work loose. Worth giving it a clean as well after puling the relay out. It has always been the issue on mine each time. |

From memory I think the relay has a fuse in, check the fuse is OK & clean. |

The headlights didnt raise when I went out last night, popped the bonnet up and wriggled the relay and they lights popped up. Ill give the contacts a good clean soon. Cheers Jim. Tom |

Tom Just as a word of warning as someone who had a TR7 as well. Mind your fingers when mucking about with headlight raising systems the motor is quite powerful, probably around 0.2HP & will remove fingers as easily as it raises the headlights. I've had more than one near miss especially on the 7 where the headlights are accessed from underneath. Headlights don't come up, poke & fiddle & suddenly the motor bursts into life! |
