Hi, can anyone shed some light on whether the outer sill is the same on both the coupe and the cabrio? Mine are starting to bubble on the nearside and was looking at these:-
https://www.classiccarpartsandpanels.co ... -944-sill/

I won't know the extent of the damage until the paint is stripped. I popped to a bodyshop yesterday that does a lot of repairs/bodywork for Porsche's but unfortunately his welder is no longer with him, so all hecan do at the moment is prep and pain etc...his opinion was though that I could A: cut the rust out and repair by adding a panel in, or B- if its travelled outside the blisters then replace the sill. Its going to another bodyshop next week for a diagnosis ( one who does everything from minor scratch repairs to full restorations of classics.)

Thanks in advance,
Al.

Have you checked PET Porsche reference 944S2? I have it on disc and will have a quick look...

They are different and cab sills are NLA.However I was in exactly the same position as you , and having researched it , the only difference between cab and coupe sills appears to be a vertical infill towards the front of the sill ( effectively just behind the reinforcement on the inner sill for the A post). So I fitted a genuine Porsche coupe sill. This fits perfectly and so far the car has not bent in two!!Thickness of the sills is identical.I have to say that I used classic car parts rear wing repair panel , which was fairly good , but I would be inclined to go for a genuine Porsche sill ( albeit they have sky rocketed in price since last year )

I mailed classic car parts and asked.Laura mailed back and confirmed that the sills they manufacture fit both the early 944, the s2 and the cabriolet. If needed, I'll order a couple.

Hi - 944Online (USA) stock both the S2 and cab sill, albeit under separate part numbers - the detail (aka tech drawing) looks similar but as posted advice from others here, yours should be ok...

thanks for the info. i'll take it to the bodyshop and see if it does need a new sill or if its localised to one area.
