hi got severly squeaking steering
have removed wheel and lubricated
refitted but still as bad
what next

hi got severly squeaking steering have removed wheel and lubricated refitted but still as bad what next thanks |

Have a look at the universal joint where the column comes through the bulkhead into the engine bay. It is quite close to the manifold and the heat dries it out. Try lubricating it and see if this helps. Any squeaks here will get transfered straight up the column into the cockpit. |

thanks but can actually here its coming from further up were wheel is held on wondered if a spacer or something is missing

My Momo wheel does this it's where the shroud touches the wheel boss, it's number 551 on the list of jobs to do! |

Mine used to squeak from up at the top just behind the wheel, there is a bush inside the cowling around the top of the column I believe which dries out and causes squeaking when the wheel is turned, rather than take mine out to replace I just carefully sprayed some silicon based lubricant into the gap behind the wheel and inside the plastic cowling ans magically it stopped squeaking. When I change the wheel for a new one and sort out the dash lights I will replace the thing properly. |

On the topic of steering wheels mine rattles quite a bit. Anyone have a diagram of how the steering arrangment is setup so I know where to look. Tom |

sorted squeak cut 5mm off lug on steering wheel thanks to advice from 944bloke well chuffed thx
