Thank you every one who responded on 944 sills post- key advice received. I've now had a Porsche pre-purchase test which all in all is positive. Only oddity on this 1987 lux with 97,000 miles is a respray , a new engine block and missing service history between 60,000 and 93,0000. An hpi comes back thumbs up- are these three issues something to worry about? Tester thinks the miles are genuine but without full service a bit tricky. Is a new block a good thing?? Thanks again, A nearly 944 owner! Dan |

I wonder if the new engine was when it was newish & under warranty. A mate had a new engine fitted to his Honda S2000. The first service they either fitted a faulty oil filter or the new one fell off. Around a mile and a half down the road it dumped its oil & rattle to a very expensive halt! Very embarrassed main dealer dragged it back & a week later shiny new engine ![]() Miles I wouldn't care TBH honest as a nearly 30 year old car, but an MOT check which is free will show mileages each MOT. |

If the respray its recent it can hide all sorts... Do a careful magnet check for filler around all likely areas. Wings, sills, rear arches etc. My resprayed before purchase car is now starting to show far more filler than I'd like... I'm dreading what I'll find when I sand down the rear quarter panel! |
