As anyone purchased a new radiator recently? I am thinking of replacing mine but struggling to find one at a reasonable price i.e under £400. All the OE supplies seem to have dried up.

Its not urgent but I'm not convinced my Rad is working as efficiently as it should (after several flushing and much gunk removed), and my Fan has just packed up as well so I was thinking of changing both for some piece of mind.

I got mine last week from Rosepassion, with shipping was £416

They still have stock of the original part number 944.106.031.03 at 472,93 Euros
and the new superseded part number is 944.106.031.04 which is now a whopping 623 Euros

Get in quick

My car seems to run cooler now and is a nice constant temerature

Have you tried ECP? They sell radiators that are made by the manufacturers of the Porsche items. I believe they charge around £300. I know they do not list them online but it may be worth giving them a phonecall.

Unless I am missing something Design 911 sell them for £265.

Thanks guys.

What I am finding is that a lot of places are still advertising OEM rads eg NRF at decent prices ~£270 but after placing the order I am being told they are not available. That's why I was asking. Fingers crossed I have an NRF radiator on order, however just been told by supplier that they need 24hrs to confirm availability.

I've just changed mine, you'll struggle!

Porscheshop said £400+shipping, but never called me back; i don't like them anyway because they messed me around for weeks over an exhaust a few years ago. I'm glad they couldn't be arsed because i couldn't either really.

Porsche said £450+vat from Germany, 4wkng days, but i got the price down to 420 just for asking nicely.

The only recores available are on copper cores and cost £250-270, avoid them because the cores disintegrate after 2-3yrs.

The £270 Design 911 radiators are permanently out of stock.

The s/h one i now have fitted came from 9-Apart, cost £75, and works fine. The new fan i ordered with it was £65 and also runs very well, they even threw in some new self tapping mounting bolts for the fan and delivered the whole job lot before dinner time the next day.

Great. Allegedly it is an NRF that I have ordered through a parts supplier at £271 delivered, so fingers crossed I get confirmation today. If not I will go direct.

Just want to double check with you guys the issue. Firstly, much of the cooling system has been changed in the past 15months. New fans switch, new temp sensor, replacement expansion tank, new hoses, new water pump. The system has been flushed properly several times, and bled correctly. When driving normally at any forward speed (when the engine is warmed up) the temp indicates just above the central position (but not as far as the upper middle white line). However, if I stop for any period of time for traffic or roadworks, the temp starts to rise quite quickly. The fan does kick in but only manages to slow down the temp increase rather than reverse it. After about 10-15mins its game over and its over heating. The fan does work on both speeds as and when it should. My original fan gave up the ghost last week, so to check if this was the issue i.e. fan was dying and therefor not moving enough air, I have installed an 11" 10 blade SPAL fan that I had on the shelf from my track car. It has about 40% more CFM than the original fan. Sadly, the issue is exactly the same. Therefor, I concluded that the radiator still has some internal blockage and cant flow enough coolant at idle to reduce engine temps. Also, if I mange to get going again after stopping and the temp has built up, it takes an age for it to come back down and stablise (even at steady motorway speeds).

Changing the radiator in an old car IME is never a bad shout.

If it were me I'd probably go to a genuine Porsche thermostat. My aftermarket item from First line could never keep a stable reading.

Are you loosing any coolant when it supposidly overheats ?

I know the the water temp switch and the gauge can play up without it really being too hot.

Once the temp reading gets above the upper white line the guage does appear to start 'spazzing' for want of a better phrase. However, the car has 'burped' a few pints of coolant from the expansion overflow pipe. This has been after the engine has been turned off.

The last time this happened I did manage to keep going without losing any fluid, but the engine wasnt very happy. When I got back I checked the spark plugs and they had gone white, sure sign that it had been running too hot.

You must have an insider! I called them this afternoon and the lady kindly informed me they have none, not here not Netherlands, no where. And even if they did she couldn't sell it too me because I am not trade. She kindly referred me to Dingbro, who also wont deal with me because - you guessed it - I'm not trade, very helpful.
