I'm thinking of selling up, where d'y'all think prices for the turbo are going after the recent rises? Only asking as I sold a 964 celebration 10 years ago for £22K and I can't get over it!!

On the whole I think price rises have been exaggerated, there's 2 really nice looking red turbos that have been for sale for months, probably because they've done over 150k miles. My thoughts are that it's only speculators that would pay £20k + and they seem to want mint cars with under 100k on them. I think the ship has sailed for the polished turds.

Bit harsh polished turds, some might take offence at that

Mine has done 145k and I don't refer to it as a turd and it gets polished

Hmmm there are plenty of other Porsche models for sale at decent prices with plenty of miles on the clock so why not a 44 turbo? I suppose at the end of the day it depends on what the buyer intends to do it with and how quickly you want to sell it.

What you forget is alot of people out there will buy a car due to the numbers on the clock. There could be a car out there with 3 times the mileage and in better condition but the low miler would always sell for more.

I struggled to sell my Turbo TBH and that had 190k on the clock. It didn't ever put a foot wrong and at 150k was owned by ProMax themselves and seemed to have had a fortune spent on it everywhere.

Anyone that deals or works with cars knows they don't like standing about.
I'd rather have something with 'normal' mileage anyday

Agreed 100%.....personally, £20k wouldn't buy my car and that has 200k on the clock. Mind you the engine only has 8k and around double the standard power output so not your average well kept 951...:)

At 20k there's a lot off other Porsches avabilve, This is where the modified offerings should start to sway people's decisions.

The recent price rises seem daft to me and I am also wondering whether any of the cars priced at £15k+ will ever sell for that. Of course the collectors will always want the low-mileage ones and will have the money to spend but realistically how many cars are there with so few genuine miles on them?

Funnily enough I was looking at the prices of 993's the other day and it seems that there are very very few 993's with more than about 120,000 miles on the clock. Which seems more than a little bit fishy to me. Maybe the market has split into cars that are driven and used and have big miles on them but the owners are holding onto them, and cars for sale with smaller mileages, but I suspect there are a lot out there which have had a substantial haircut.

Oli. (Owner of an S2 with nigh on 200,000 on the clock and which is driven very regularly.)

Calm down people. The 2 red turbos I mentioned weren't included in my "polished turds" comment. One had a SPS engine not that many miles ago and the other has had thousands spent on it recently. Their mileage wouldn't stop me buying either for £12k+ if I was looking for a turbo today. The colour might stop me though  .

A car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, put a price on it and see what happens. :)

These threads are getting boring, the "polished turd" quote made me chuckle.

That is ridiculous for a 205 GTI, i'm assuming it was a 1.9 in immaculate condition that hadn't turned its wheels in years with 30k miles or less?
