Following on from my "am I being too picky thread" its only the second time I have wheeled it out of the garage, how many shades of blue!

Hi Scott -

Some non features to the original also? 968 door mirrors and air panel intake. The front indicators and side ones are orange. Wheels look like 17" possibly? Where is the rear spoiler?! The rear indicators should be orange - ? Paintwork is probably local damage per panel...

I don't quite understand what you are saying dave, the whole drivers side of the car and the rear panel have been painted, spoiler has been removed for a re paint as it had tape marks on it that would not polish out after the trip to the body shop.

I look at my car thinking that panel is dark red, the door's orange, the front wing is a proper red but then I look at it in a different light and it all changes. My point is that as long as the car looks reasonable for a 30 year old paint job then I doubt anyone is going to be as picky as the owner. You don't know what colour it is when you're driving it anyways. :mrgreen: :lol:

Are you saying the new paint doesn't match the old ? I'd be impressed if a painter perfectly matched new and old on that colour. Most of them won't even commit to match white.

It depends on how much the bodywork cost,
If you paid top money, then yes, you've got a right to be unhappy,
What quality bodyshops will do is fade the basecoat over the adjoining panels and then laquer that panel as well,
In your instance if they did that it would near as damn it a complete respray.
But it is a bad colour match!!!

I'm not paying for it the insurance company has helped me by recouping the costs from the original bodyshop (it had to be re painted as it was all micro blistering. The colour of the first paint job was an excellent match, in fairness to the first guy he painted that badge panel away from the car with only a headlight cover to go by. I cant detected any basecoat being faded in, there's a paint line along the inside edge of the wing so it doesn't look like it. This guy is supposed to be a specialist in custom paint and has won some prizes at shows for his work. The bill came in at approx £2400.

In that case I would not be happy and you are perfectly within your rights to seek remedial work
