Outer sunroof seal

I have noticed that for the outer sunroof seal there are two available an early (pre '86) and late (post '86). It this dependent on whether the sunroof is manual / electric or did the design of the actual sunroof panel change in some way?
I think i read somewhere that the early seal is a few inches shorter.

Seals are common to 924 and 944. 924 sunroof changed from manual to electric about 1983, not sure about 944. Roof changed slightly for 1986 MY when 924S introduced when gutters were removed, not sure what effect, if any, it had on s/r. I seem to recall that most suppliers are doing a one type fits all seal now, which can cause the panel to sit slightly proud until bedded down.

Only944 has the sunroof seal for the 924 and 944 price about $18

That will be the inner seal, Item 18 above!

Thanks for all the replies.
The reason I ask is that only944 sell an outer sunroof seal that is finished as a loop (I think they have glued the two ends together) that is supposed to fit all sunroofs where as Porsche seem to sell two depending on chassis number (thanks hotblack99 for the info)
