Every non S2/Turbo bumpered 944 I've seen has headlight washers but mine doesn't.

Did they all have these or was it an option? Somebody could've just had mine away like they did with half the AC system.

Have a look to see if the old pump is still mounted in the wash bottle

Nope it's not got the original screenwash pump. Pretty sure it's a 944 bumper but I don't think it's the original, looks like it may have had a bit of a smack on the front end before and had a new bumper fitted.

Also my passenger side washer jet has a nice bit of power behind it but the drivers side (the important one) is feeble and just dribbles out the end, could it be down to the pump not putting enough pressure through or the valve(?) being a bit dodgy?

Assuming there are no holes in the pipes I d just try a new jet! It must be clogged up with something. You could try blowing high pressure air through it but for what they cost............? :)

Have you an S2 or a Lux?

Do you know that the headlamp washer pump is not the same one as the screen wash pump?

That'll probably be the anti drain back valve in the pipe to the drivers side nozzle being seized up. Replacement parts available from OPC.

That's what I suspected, cheers Jim. It's not the jet as I switched them over and the one that was dribbling shot right over the roof.

It is a Lux and it's not the original pump as it is screwed in where the sticker should be under the bonnet instead of being attached to the washer fluid bottle and the spade connectors attached certainly don't look 25 years old

The headlamp washer pump is fitted at the bottom of the wash bottle, below the headlamp, you might have to turn the headlamps on to see it

Cheers, I'll have a dig around for it.

I've just pulled half the centre console apart at the moment and the fan switch decided to split in half and spill its internals everywhere so got to sort that mess out first.

The pumps a pig to get to, it broke on mine and I was never brave enough to try to replace it

Well I think I found the pump. It is the circular thing at the very bottom of the tank? The plug was resting next to it but not plugged in so I attached it and nothing happened when I hit the switch. There is no tubing or jets for it so probably best that nothing happened.

I did however get my blower fan working, the fuse was missing

ETA: Just looked in the owners handbook and it says fuse 9 in the seconday fuse box is 'not used', don't believe it! That's the one I put a fuse into and the fan fired up.

Might be wrong here :? but I took it that the head lamp washer was an option on the non Lux and S models, the option number for this is 288 which should be listed in the cars Guarantee and Maintenance book and on the rear panel inside the boot.

If only I had any of those. It does have the headlight washer switch though
