Hi All, car finally arrived after a very long wait....really enjoying her so far apart from a few niggles, which are mainly electrical (temp gauge has mind of its own and leccy windows keep blowing a fuse) and an oil leak I cannot fathom.... Seems to be on the bottom of the crank case? The breather pipe was restricted but this has not cured it so far.... To date I have fitted: K&N panel new spax rsx kit Mintex M1144 pads Later DME and 9tunning chip Momo prototipo (very important) OMP seats and Sabelt harnesses New gear shift from JMG Toyo Proxes CF2'S Solid droplinks Will be grateful of any input / suggestions, next on the list are new door cards, ported head (has anyone done this) and up-rated cam (have been looking at augment automotive) and a dansk exhaust... Love the car... just needs a widge more power ![]()

I'd get your belts done before anything else. You may well discover your oil leak from one of the front seals. Worth getting the front seals done as part of the belts work. As for extra performance augment automotive would be the place to go. I would also recommend an ignition system refresh. Mine was markedly more spritely after a new coil, distributor, ignition leads and plugs. Cleaned injectors also helped. A throttle response cam also makes them a bit more fun. |

I had the same trouble with my temperature gauge. There were some blobs of solder on the back of the unit itself (i.e. when you take it off the instrument panel), but one had fallen off. Put some fresh solder on there and it's worked faultlessly ever since. See the pic on the 4th posting here : viewtopic.php?f=25&t=20860 Cheers, Bryan |

Given that it is not dripping the belts may be OK. There is a slot in the cam cover housing which allows you to check the belt. If nothing else, remove the front cover of the of the belts and see what things are like. I have only once seen the belts wet on an engine and that engine had serious damage (seized piston). |

I would certainly concur with Bow Runner - get all the belts done, along with tensioners and the associated rollers. Your photo looks like a front end seal leak. Easily replaced with the belts. Also, the ignition tune as BR says, will give your motor an extra 'buzz' - an often over-looked item on 944s. I would recommend making sure your engine is safe from failure, prior to any thing like door cards etc, but appreciate your keenness to get your car up to spec...! YouTube has an item on the front oil seal : Van Svenson/944front oil seal Dave CT |

I was told by the seller that the belts had very recently been raplaced, would you advise getting them done again due to the oil leak/ what sort of cost are you talking? Thank you for all of the help and comments ! |

Hi Jenko - If the seller says that the belts were done recently - get a receipt for the job. You can get the front end crank seal replaced without replacing ie renewing the belts... Dave CT |
