Just done mine, very fiddly. Release rack then top u'j slid off easily bottom was tight bit of corrosion on splines. I prised the slot with a chisel and a bit of WD40 pry bar and it came. Steering wheel was also 180 degrees out. In fact old steering arm wasn't too bad just a bit of lateral play in lower u/js. While I was in there and bumper off for reapir I clened out the 20yrs of rotted leaves from in front of the oil cooler, it was totally blocked.

The four bolts that hold the rack to the crossmember, loosen those right off almost out that will give you enough wiggle room

I have rebuilt a few of these shafts now it's an easy job and costs about £60, with new UJ's

Takes longer to paint them than repair them

Hi Waylander is there a tutorial for rebuilding these shafts? And what parts are needed, finally where would you get the parts from?

Regards

Mark

Hi Waylander

Could you tell me where you can get the parts from to refurbish theses shafts?

Thank You

Mark

You could ask JMG where they buy the parts from, I’m sure John will give up that information

You need a press to get them out
