Hi All, I'm back again, slowly getting the 944 back on the road. Exciting that the 944 turbo value has risen :0) rightly so too! I have a question about the plastic side skirting that fits under the body, using the bolts affixed to the body. I have removed one side and in doing so have sheered off a couple of the bolts, obviously from age and rust etc. Has anyone had any experience replacing the bolts? I am thinking to either grind the area flat and spot weld some bolts (with the flange for welding) or to drill a hole and use rivet nuts. Although, I'm not sure how thick or what is behind the panel. Thanks. Kat |

I'd say weld on some new bolts, good to see you back on here, I remember your car from when I first joined. |

Thanks I think you are right, the rivet nuts are a cheats option without a welder I suppose but I know someone who is mobile and not too expensive..so will have to do that I think. itching to get the turbo back on the road but unfortunately it's only to get it sold :0( unless I win the lottery or get a job I suppose! lol |

That's OK. I have been working on my van nearly every day since end of January, replacing the suspension (lowering it) and all the ball joints/bushes and lots of body work/welding/painting/fixing things oh and even a replacement gearbox, as my one suddenly decided to stop working. I have decided that it's better to stick with the van as it's more versatile, useful and easier to work on and cheaper. The Turbo is a dream car and although I've had nothing but trouble with it since I bought it, it's almost trouble free now and I have enjoyed driving it around while it was on the road. |

Thanks and I would love to, as I'm very familiar with the car now but and I know this isn't exactly PC to say on this website, this is more for a hippy commune website or something but I haven't got anywhere to live, so owning a 944 Turbo isn't exactly a priority, it was fun (and stressful) for a bit but I seriously can't afford it. Once I get it on the road, I might drive it about for a Month or so (sensibly and to check everything is working good) before hopefully selling it to put some money towards a holiday and maybe a deposit for a flat and to help me back into work. I might try to get to beaulieu but there is also a VW show on at Stonor Park in Henley on the same day. If I get the 944 going I will go to Beaulieu. |

Good luck with sale and getting job, house etc sorted. |
