It's been a while since I last posted on the forum but know I'll get good answer to this one here, so here goes..............

I'm going to be selling my 968 Sport in the next couple of months and don't really know what price I should be asking for it. I've been using it as a daily driver for the last 4 years but I think it's now getting to be the sort of car that needs driven a little less often.

It's a 1994 car in Polar Silver, with 132k miles on the clock and in the last four years has only let me down when I left the lights on for 8 hours! It has KW coilover suspension and Cup 2 wheels, but remains standard other than that. I have obviously kept the servicing and repairs up to date with my local specialist and have a fully stamped up service book and a few receipts for anything done once that was full. The car passed it's MOT in March and will be serviced and have the belts changed before I put it up for sale. I will probably have the wheels refurbed again too, back to their original silver. The bodywork is generally good but not great. As I say I use it as my daily so it has seen the road throughout the year, has the usual stone chips, odd small scratch, etc. however there are no dents, there's never been any accident damage and could be brought up to show standard should someone want to spend the time and a bit of money on it. The interior is all good, with no rips or wear on the bolsters and all the electrics (including the clock) work.

So basically that is it. What is the consensus on what it is worth??

I'd suggest between £14k - £18k but maybe someone who has bought recently may be in a better place to say....

Quite a wide range and I know it very much depends on the exact condition, history and desirable options on the car. I haven't seen a Sport sold or for sale on PH, eBay or autotrader for a long while, but the prices the coupes sell for seems to vary wildly. Club Sports I know are up around £30k, but there low mileage coupes (mostly Triptronic) around the £10k and others with similar mileages to mine advertised at £20k.

With such a big difference between the asking prices I had to ask people's opinions

Dave

It's always a risk but the best prices seem to be made at auctions. Very average high mileage cars being sold for more than a retail forecourt.

Good Luck

Sean

Thanks Sean, but I don't think I'd want to go down the auction route. I know it might sound a bit daft but I'd prefer to have a little more say on who buys the car and sell it to someone who is going to use it and enjoy it as opposed to just tart it up and sell it on.

Saying that if someone offered me top end price I might be less inclined to be that bothered!

I'll still have the 944 Turbo for that sort of fun :D but I am still very tempted to keep both

To be honest, I don't think it's worth very much at all......

I will be selfless in agreeing to take it off your hands, though, for about £4K..... :D

I fancied running a 968 back in the days when £8k would buy a decent one, looks like that ship has sailed. Never wanted one more than a turbo though  .

And that will be why I'm selling the 968 and keeping the Turbo.

I have always preferred the look of the 944 and even though the 968 is probably a slightly better car to drive fast, I prefer the having to accommodate the turbo lag, 5 speed box and less refined ride. :D

However any more opinions on how much it is worth?

With fresh belts and MOT I'd be tempted to have a go at £19k.

No I have the MO30 Koni adjustable coil overs on the Turbo. The KWs are a lot better IMO because they seem to have a wider working range. I set the Koni's up mid way and they are fine but a bit harsh on the motorway and don't quite react quick enough to some of the bumpy stuff on B roads, but I did the same with the KWs and they are great at either end of the spectrum. It takes a pretty big bump to unsettle the KWs
