Hi guys, Has anyone had any experience of either promax or 9Tuning performance chips? I am looking to install in to a 83' porsche 944 2.5 ltr 8v. I have swapped the DME and AFM for a later 85.5 car ..... Thanks.. |

I had a ProMax chip in my S2 Cabby. No issues with it, the torque curve was improved compared to standard cars when we had a '44 dyno day some years back. |

Great, good to know - and hp gains will be a bonus - I have read the car is more responsive and smoother which looks a good for £100... |

I have Promax chips in my car albeit a turbo. Worked well out the box and had different maps for different set ups and boost levels. Plus having spoken to the guys on numerous occasions can confirm they know their stuff! Stuart |

Another vote for Promax, they were very helpful with some DME queries and I have one of their chips in my S |

I have Promax chips in my S2 and 2.7. I have no problems to report. The S2 showed the most noticeable difference with the power delivery smoothed out and the car much more responsive below 4,000rpm; it just became "nicer" to drive. The 2.7 changes were more subtle but there was probably a little more power and torque there. |

How did this go? I am having the promax vs 9tuning dilemma. Although Promax are indicating in their website they are out of stock for the 8v. |

I went for the 9 tuning option, felt more responsive and better, just make sure you have a later dme from 85.5 onwards as the chips are soldered in to the early dme's. You will have to change the afm also if you do this. Mine has just died but I think the dme relay is the cause as it has cut out a few times... |

Despite what some people have said I have no qualms about ProMax. They are pretty reasonable and know their stuff. I have had the pleasure of dealing with them both with a Porsche 944 and outside of the Porsche world with Triumphs (one of the senior guys bought my Stag off me with us keeping in touch now and again, some here may know of him), again with no problems ![]() |

It's a s2 and I k ow about the lugs in the plug but it doesn't seem to budge! They do need quite a fair tug to separate, and I imagine you're a little wary of using much force understandably. I used two skewers from the kitchen drawer which wedged the lugs open leaving both hands free to separate the boards. Once you've done it once its easy. Good luck |

Hi Adam This is not my favourite job, just take care and all should be fine....not sure what instructions you got with the chip but you may find this link helpful http://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/CHIPCHANGE.html it may not be your chip but installation will be the same... cheers Pete |

Thanks Pete, unfortunately that manual is the same as the one I have. Basically the issue I have is that the I can't separate the top circuit board. It's supposed to just slide out one all the clips have been released. The s2 has some extra clips in the plug but it doesn't seem to move. I suspect I have missed something |
