Hi all today I changed anti freeze so while I was doing that I gave her a oil change and I was checking the power steering fluid level,do you screw the cap tight then undo to check the level or just undo it and rest it on top? other question is what fluid does it need to top up and is it a easy job to drain and refill with fresh fluid? thanks

The way I check it is to undo the cap, clean the dipstick then refit. Unsrscrew and read the level.

I had to drain mine when a hose started leaking, I just drained it by undoing the fill pipe to the pump and left it to run out. A pipe to the rack itself was undo so the fluid in the rack drained out of that.

Refill it with GM Dexron III automatic transmission fluid, not some generic PS fluid!! To bleed just run the car, slowly turning the wheel from lock to lock whilst keeping the fluid level correct. To start with it will look all frothy until the bubbles settles and all the air is out :)
