Today I was swapping wheels to refurb my cookie cutters, and I had to use the spare. It is a 911 part number, 5.5J steel with normal tyre (i.e. not collapsible). However, the bolts are not compatible because either the studs are too long, or the wheel is too thin.

So do I have the wrong spare for a 944? Or do I need capless nuts for the spare?

The parts catalogue calls out a separate wheel nut for use with steel wheels, part # N 020 112 1. Described as a "ball seat nut", it is open-ended. (the 5.5Jx15 steel wheel part # referenced is 911 361 022 00)

standard wheel nut part # is 999 182 003 36

Cheers Glenn,

Just as I thought. I have the original spare, but some careless PO has lost the nuts. I can order from Design 911 or OPC easy enough.

My spare has 4 normal wheel nuts with the ends ground off and this works effectively.

In a fix you can just wind them through.
