Does anyone know the flow limit in cfm or otherwise of the standard 944 Turbo air filter box and filter?

I remember reading an article on the 968 airbox/filter and modifications but nothing for the turbo.

944 Man, was this ever tested on a dyno etc.?

Just wondering which is the highest flowing OEM Porsche airbox and filter?

Any easy mods to get the figure higher?

See the JMG site, Jon has lots of useful info on their from his experience of tuning 951's.

In my opinion the limiting factor is the AFM not the airbox. If going for big power then you should really upgrade the DME and therefore delete the AFM either by going for a MAF or MAP set up (I'll be doing the latter).

I've seen a picture of a 968 turbo RS in a magazine that reputedly has a lot more than 320 bhp. It looks like it has a standard 944 turbo airbox/panel filter. It didn't have the 944 snorkel though, instead it has a short duct to a NACA duct in the bonnet. That would suggest the long snorkel is a restriction rather than the airbox.

Lifted straight from a saved copy of the information on JM's site Wes. No direct experience or empirical evidence.

I've never seen a pic of a 944T intake ducted through the bonnet so JMG's figure is probably right for a standard air box. Supposedly around half of the gains from MAF kits are related to the less restrictive air filter plumbing.
