Post subject:  968 handles broken

Good morning all,

I noticed recently that my passenger door was becoming more and more difficult to open. The car is a 944 with 968 handles fitted by a previous owner.

The drivers side works perfectly.

Anyway on closer inspection of the passenger side handle has broken internally. The striker part of the handle has snapped, so no longer opens the door from the outside.

So a couple of questions please, are the internals of a standard 944 handle the same as the 968? Can I adapt golf handles? Has anyone got a spare handle knocking about? They are the handles with central locking, does that make a difference? I doubt I'm the first person this has happened too, does anyone know of a repair kit?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Golf handles?!? Get a grip man!

Unlike 944 handles (for which a repair part is now available), the 968 handle is supplies in several pieces. Look at the exploded diagram on PET and see which part you need then call a couple of Frontrunner-friendly OPCs. None of the constituent parts are particularly expensive.

Ordered the part I needed from OPC for £8.00!

Cheers,

Yes all sorted thanks.

Central locking is also rubbish from drivers door so have also otdered plastic arm that runs between handle and pump, would you believe I think it's about £2.00!

I am sure it will be a joy to fit also,
