I guess if it wasn't too heavy there is no harm in reusing it, but on most cars, changing it has made big difference to the clutch feel and drivability of the car
. The release bearing in a Jag was probably used in more cars TBH.
That, and IME alot of parts made for British cars are just garbage. Yes a coil may be £10 but you can be sure you will be chasing more problems (I have been there and done that). I won't even talk about a friend's MGB, who is on his 3rd release bearing within 2 years.
It's one of the reasons I sold my British cars up. The quality parts are out there (SuperFlex being one of the good guys it seems) but Jesus they like to charge. OTOH, the Triumph 2.5PI has to be the smoothest classic car I have ever driven with their bushes, and that was with me having a Stag with stock suspension.
OTOH, I am derailing the thread a little
. It's not that I enjoy splashing the cash on pricey parts but I hate doing the same job twice or chasing my own tail for something I thought was good (mainly because it was new) when it turns out it is at fault.
