Post subject:  What's the best way to authentice a UK 968 Model....

Hi - I am looking at 968 project which has been previously used as a track car since 1999 on and off - it hasn't been taxed or MOT'd since then an purports to be a genuine UK Clubsport originally.

What is the best way to confirm this - as i have the previous K-plate re. to hand, and DVLA confirms the above - but is there a register of Sports and Clubsports anywhere someone can point me in the direction of? or is it simply a case of calling OPC and trying to get them to run the plate against their records?

Any tips appreciated

I am no expert, but you could try:

1. The one where you will get most success is the Confirmation of Authenticity - via PCGB. This is free for PCGB members, but £65 for non members. I have the forms, but couldn't bear to part with £65 for it. PM me and I will send you the forms and payment details.

2. Try talking to your OPC nicely. They car run your chassis number via their system to find the exact spec of your car. They have to do this when you call for parts, so order a screw or a cover and ask them to do this. It might cost you a pound, but worth it.

3. You could try the online free searches. Of the top of my (im at work), the MOT.GOV site might be worth a go, or there are mycarcheck type websites. I am unsure if these give specific models - but you could get lucky. Best of all, if it does, its free!

Good luck - I will edit this post when I get home with my links for the free sites.

BTW: Is this the 968 photographed on the back of a trailer on PH?

Hi

If you email Marc Noack at Porsche Germany classics dept,
Ask nicely for a vehicle specification for your car, he will need the chassis number
Marc.Noack@porsche.de
he should also be able to give you build details etc it you ask nicely

Maybe try and use some German if you can

All CS's & Sports will show on the COA as a Club Sport, thats how they were built. Porsche GB may be able to tell you.

Whats the original reg no?
