Hi,
Whilst trying to ascertain my new water feature in the boot of my 944 cab, below the counter balance damper. I am coming to the conclusion that I am getting so much condensation on the damper, coupled with either that fact I have a car cover on that's may be stopping moisture from evaporating ( even though its supposed to breathable) or may be that the boot is not fully closed ( to let maintenance charger wires in) letting moisture in.

Has anybody ever had this happen? I've took the damper out to see if it makes any difference.

Same here ...

I wonder if it's getting in through the fuel flap somehow, because looking at the bootlid there's not a lot of chance of it overflowing into the boot. On mine the rubber seal between the fuel filler neck and the shoulder capping is quite perished so... Other than that the only other holes into that area are where the lower spoiler bolts to the body, although I masticked the crap out of mine when I refitted them.. I haven't been able to see what's under the battery tray though, and the only difference in those two voids is the fuel filler cap .

I kinda solved mine by drilling a drain hole in the bottom of the cavity - then waxing it of course ...

I recall the recess under the fuel flap on my Cab filling with water. When I cleaned out the drain with a wire, the water drained down a tube that I think may run inside the boot and exits in the area of the balance weight.

Maybe your is draining into the boot and not going all the way through?

Nope, I tested that. Poured water down it and come out underneath, no probs. I'm actually getting water collecting even with a car cover on.

for anyone that's interested. I've cured the problem. took the damper/counter balance out and it stopped filling up with water. ended up gluing some thin automotive black carpet on all the exposed surfaces of the damper to insulate it and so far so good. Actually looks better and more finished off now.
