Post subject:  Value of Turbo project car?

Due to having way too many projects on the go I am considering selling my 944 Turbo (220) and ploughing the cash into my 964.
I have had the Turbo for about five years, bought on a bit of a whim, it has around 100k on it, Slate Grey and pretty good mechanics but usual tin worm to the sills/ rear bin etc. I started sorting the bodywork a couple of years ago. Removed O/S sill and repaired what was behind it, bought a genuine sill which is ready to go on, also bought a pair of rot free front wings but then had to move it to my lock up while I concentrated on another restoration. The car also has cup wheels and sports seats, no history though as it is a cat D due to an attempted theft (still has the pry marks by the door handles).
Anyone got any idea what it's worth?
Thanks in advance.............Nick

I've been watching the market for a while aiming to buy an S2 when I can create some space and I'm observing prices moving all over the place. I have no interest in turbos but watch the market with amusement :)

There was a cat D recently on ebay with an MOT looking good up for about £8K, it's disappeared now so may have sold but for how much who knows??

There was also a cat D S2 with 53K on the clock for £3K not sure if that sold, the seller stated he would break for parts if not sold?

I'd try it at anywhere between £3k and £5K, depends what your expectations are and the overall condition.

Good luck with the sale.

Hi Nick,

I'm going to put two and two together here, but are you Andrew's Dad and are you in Shrewsbury? If not then your car and circumstances sound almost identical to a mate's dads!!..

If you are though then I'm Richard who races with Andrew and am a fellow turbo owner and I even keep my car at the same site as yours. I'd be more than happy to take a look over it to offer my opinion.

I would be interested in restoring this back for road use, but would need to see the car and what work is needed.

Hello Richard

Small world isn't it? Andrew had told me that your Turbo was close by, not sure what to do with it but you're welcome to have a look.

Indeed it is! I bumped into Andrew at the weekend and he mentioned you were thinking of moving it on. I'll gladly take a look at it as it's literally across the road from, so I'm happy to offer an impartial view to anyone who's interested in the car proving you're ok with that Nick?

Drop me a PM, I'll be around most of this weekend and it's likely I'll be spending some time at the lock up working on mine any way

Cheers

A few photo's of the 944, I think I will probably move her on and sink the money into getting the 964 painted, if anyone is interested before I put it on evil bay please PM me.
The old girl had sat for 12 months until today, put a battery on and away she went like it was last started yesterday :D
