Post subject:  Part No help Please?

Hi Guys,

I finally managed to find the reason for my heat shield rattle - a broken mounting bracket.

Can anyone help identify the attached part - its a bracket that bolts to the engine and also bolts the 2 parts of the heat shield together under the exhaust manifold.

Whilst I was under there, I also found another broken part - the cover at the bottom of the flywheel. I think I have found that one on PET - 944 116 093 01 but if someone can confirm it would be appreciated.

Pics here...

This is the lower half of the heat shield that the bracket holds.

Had a quick look through the PET and I think Waylander is right - that 'cover plate' assembly seems to come as one part. However, I think a local welder would be able to fix both of those brackets for you - shouldn't cost too much either.

Well,

I found a nice picture of the offending item on ebay based on the part no Waylander provided (thanks). Porsche dealer has confirmed its available as a complete assembly only at £51 + VAT (and £29 + VAT for the clutch cover).

Many thanks for the advice guys.

Well, I got around to fitting this yesterday - what a b*****d of a job it was. Those clever Porsche engineers clearly didn't think that anyone would want to replace this part with the engine in the car!

There is no way to get the shield into the space without separating it into 3 pieces, and even then I had to bend the upper section a little and jack the engine sideways slightly to gain an extra 5mm clearance.

Once in the space you are left with the simple task of assembling 3 loose parts with bolts and washers in a space that you can only just get one hand plus maybe 2 fingertips

Anyway - its in now - it better not rattle!

Whilst under there I noticed a leak from the bottom of the power steering reservoir - the hoses look a bit ratty. Anyone know if this is standard hose that can be bought off the reel or do I need a part number?
